PC Controls:
Mouse Movement: Control the direction of your ant.
Left Click / Spacebar: Consume energy to boost speed and intercept rivals.
Mobile Controls:
On-Screen Joystick: Drag the joystick to move in any direction.
Boost Button: Tap the designated button for a temporary speed burst.
Ants Io is a competitive arena game set in a tiny world where you play as a hungry ant. Food is scattered across the map, and eating it makes your ant longer and your colony bigger, with the other ants following behind you in a trail. Everyone else in the arena is trying to do the same thing.
Survival and expansion go hand in hand. Larger ants are a threat, so you must avoid them, while smaller ones are opportunities. The key trick is to make opponents run their heads into your trail, which knocks them out and leaves energy behind for you to eat. The final aim is to become the biggest ant on the leaderboard.
On a computer, the mouse steers your ant and left click or Space spends energy for a speed boost. On mobile, drag the on-screen joystick to move and tap the boost button. Use the boost carefully, since it drains energy: save it for cutting in front of a rival rather than for simply travelling across the map.
If it clicks with you, Loopix, Farm Defenders and Pixel Conquest are close in spirit.
