Before each fight you arrange your units on the battlefield. Once you press start, the battle runs by itself, so the outcome depends entirely on placement. Mixing close and long-range fighters and paying attention to their elements is what wins rounds. Dragging two identical characters onto the same cell merges them into a stronger one.
Between fights you unlock rare characters, defeat bosses, collect rewards and upgrade your heroes and their stats. The tone is silly, and each evolution feels like a new meme.

Put tougher melee units in front and ranged ones behind. Since you cannot control the fight once it starts, protecting your damage dealers at setup makes a big difference.
